Jerusalem is a city in the Southern Levant, on a plateau in the Judaean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea.  It is one of the oldest cities in the world and is considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.  Both Israel and Palestine claim Jerusalem as their capital city; Israel maintains its primary governmental institutions there, while Palestine ultimately foresees it as its seat of power.  Neither claim is widely recognized internationally.   

 

耶路撒冷 意為「神聖的」，又譯為 聖城、古都斯 或 古德斯，唐朝時 景教徒 曾根據 敘利亞語「Ūrišlem」譯作 烏梨師斂 为 黎凡特 南部地區城市，位於 地中海 和 死海 之间，是史前的全球宗教重镇，也是完整保留 亚伯拉罕诸教 信仰文明演进史的一个城市。耶路撒冷 同时是 亚伯拉罕诸教（或称「三大天启宗教」以及一神论）的聖地。目前，以色列 實際控制全城，並将其视为本国首都，而 巴勒斯坦国  則視其东部为該国首都。
